I went to my therapy appointment today. The lady doctor gave me this exercise to do. It’s called “Taking Hold of Your Mind”. It’s got this picture of two intersecting circles. The label above the circles says: States of Mind. The words in the spaces are: Reasonable Mind, Wise Mind, and Emotional Mind. My “homework” is to pick three issues that I have trouble dealing with and characterize my thoughts into the three spaces. What I’ve come up with so far:

Issue: Medicine
Reasonable Mind: The medicine does regulate my moods.
Emotional Mind: I don’t want to get addicted and I feel like I should be relying on GOD for my help.
Wise Mind: My medicine doctor is smart. She knows what she’s talking about when she gives out medicine. The medicine might be a tool GOD is giving me to get better.

Supposedly this exercise is supposed to help me figure out my ambivalent feelings or something like that. On the bottom of the page it says: “From Skills Training Manual for Treating Borderline Personality Disorder”. I guess that answers that question.
