Bakery Lorraine – multiple locations
More of an upscale bakery. Also has a meal menu and serves wine. Specializes in macarons.
Big Daddy’s Treats – 228 E Cevallos St, San Antonio, TX 78204
Limited parking. In a great very walkable neighborhood commonly referred to as Blue Star, So Flo, Lone Star, or King William. Epic dessert creations. I’ve never been here, but the place is very popular. I’d recommend trying a mangonada to start.
Chamoy Dreams – 5558 Old Pearsall Rd, San Antonio, TX 78242
Chamoy, chamoy, chamoy. Entertaining social media. Snow cones on steroids, hot Cheetos, y mas.
Dairy Queen – multiple locations
You probably have a Dairy Queen near you in the USA, but if you’ve never tried a Blizzard then here is your chance. My favorite is the Choco Brownie Extreme, Reese’s Pieces Cookie Dough, or my own creation – mint with Snickers. I also like the steak finger basket – but it looks like they might not have that on the menu right now.
Gorilla Shaved Ice – 2355 Goliad Rd, San Antonio, TX 78223
Now you don’t have to wait for the fair. Enjoy all the over-the-top shaved ice treats and other snacks your heart could ever fathom. And then some.
Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream Shop – 214 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205
Did you know that Häagen-Dazs has shops where you can walk in and order all kinds of cones, cups, and all kinds of other creations? There is another location at North Star Mall.
Lulu’s Bakery & Cafe – 918 N Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78212
Permanently closed. Formerly the spot for three-pound cinnamon rolls.
Tiff’s Treats – multiple locations
Born in Austin. Now in multiple states. A great Texas business success story. The smell from the fresh cookies is worth a trip to the location, but they focus on cookie deliveries. Great for gifts. Really good taste, soft, chewy, and a selection of all your standard favorite flavors in addition to other creations. Closest I’ve tasted to homemade.
